Structured cabling installed, tested and certified to industry standards

Reliable network infrastructure starts with quality cabling, and Active Communications has been delivering certified structured cabling installations for businesses across Coventry and the Midlands since 1989. As an Excel Networking accredited installer, every copper and fibre installation we carry out is backed by Excel's comprehensive manufacturer warranty — giving you long-term confidence in your infrastructure.

We install Cat5e, Cat6 and Cat6a horizontal copper cabling alongside single and multi-mode fibre optic solutions for backbone runs, inter-building links and high-bandwidth applications. Every installation is fully tested using calibrated Fluke test equipment, with results documented and provided as part of a complete handover pack.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between Cat6 and Cat6a cabling?
Cat6 supports up to 10Gbps over shorter distances (up to 55m). Cat6a supports 10Gbps over the full 100m run and provides better shielding against interference. For most business environments we recommend Cat6a for future-proofing.
Do you provide certification for cabling installations?
Yes. Every installation includes full Fluke DSX cable testing with printed certification reports. You receive as-fitted floor plans and complete documentation as standard.
How long does network cabling installation take?
This depends on the number of outlets and complexity of the building. A small office fit-out (10-20 outlets) typically takes one day. Larger installations are quoted with a clear project timeline.
Can you install cabling in a live business environment?
Yes. We regularly work in occupied offices and commercial premises, planning work to minimise disruption. We can work outside business hours where required.
